Can ChatGPT Help With Employee Recruitment in Malaysia?

ChatGPT has taken Malaysian offices by storm thanks to its endless number of uses, helping some with academic reports and professional research, while others use it for simpler things like generating team building ideas. But what about its uses in human resources and workforce management?   

As artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly emerges as a valuable tool in streamlining and improving various aspects of recruitment, it is timely to take advantage of the easily accessible ChatGPT to elevate your hiring game.

Here are 4 ways that ChatGPT can assist — and even improve the employee recruitment efforts at your company.  

1. Crafting job descriptions and ads  

Crafting compelling job descriptions and advertisements is the first step in attracting top talent. ChatGPT can generate well-written and engaging content by analysing existing job postings, company information, and industry trends in the cyberspace.

To test it out, we asked ChatGPT to generate an attractive advertisement for interested human resource personnels for a software-as-a-service company.


With a single prompt, ChatGPT was able to deliver a more than 800-word advertisement to get the best talent to join your company. The best part, there is even a reminder at the bottom for you to customise the AI draft to your company’s needs.


In case you already have a job ad or description in file, you can also leverage the AI tool to improve it further. Just paste it in the text field and ask the platform to suggest improvements and tailor the content to resonate better with the target audience.

2. Drafting outreach emails for recruitment

Sometimes the best candidates require a little more effort to be found and you guessed it, ChatGPT can help with that. If you need help with a high volume of positions to be filled or want more compelling emails to entice candidates, enter vital information such as the job description and the company values for the best prompt.

Be sure to remind the tool to use industry terminology while being friendly too. You can also dictate the flow of the prompt, starting with how you plan to persuade the candidate for example.

We input the text from an ad for a Product Manager at altHR and this is what we got from ChatGPT:


As expected, a little tweaking is needed but overall, the result is quite satisfactory. This is a handy avenue especially when you need to write many outreach emails for various roles at the same time.

3. Creating Boolean search strings

If you are technical and familiar with the Boolean search string as a tool to expedite your candidate search, you will find ChatGPT quite useful. Of course, as with most prompts from the platform, you would need to make further tweaks but by filling in the basic requirements.

We tried again to look for a Product Manager for altHR.  


Whether you are technical or otherwise, the Boolean search string by ChatGPT is a good base to start with as you cast your net on the hiring platforms.

4. Preparing interview questions

Once the right candidate has been found, then begins the interview process. Whether it is a HR screening interview or a list of questions for the hiring manager, ChatGPT can create a guideline of questions that can be used as a base to find the best fit for the role.

In our case, we asked ChatGPT to provide us with a list of questions that we could ask the potential hire for the hypothetical Product Manager position.


ChatGPT did not waste time with pleasantries; it went straight for the jugular with the tough questions. Practice your own discretion and select the questions that you want to ask during the interview process for a win-win situation.  

It is important that the hiring industry stays abreast of the latest developments in the technology space and ChatGPT has emerged as the most sensational addition of 2023. We recommend adding it to your arsenal of tools for a more robust hiring experience!
